Behind the Lens
with Amber Boutwell – Food, Portraits, Night, & Drone Photography
Photographer. Storyteller.
Snack-Bringer.
Amber shoots with natural light but has a love for dark skies. When she’s not on mountain tops chasing the Milky Way, she’s capturing food or architecture for many well known restaurants in Denver.
Over the past decade, she has built a stellar reputation in content development, marketing strategy, and successfully managing her photography business. Her work has graced the pages of renowned publications like Lonely Planet, USA Today, and 5280.
She’s been known to quote Joe Pesci, over-kiss cats, and grunt-eat cheese. She believes in printed photos, scenic overlooks, and finding places where the Wi-Fi’s weak and the views are strong.
“Night photography? That’s therapy. Nighttime is the right time.” – Amber

I’m a photographer drawn to night, food, architecture, portraits, and the places in between. I shoot what catches my eye—quiet corners, strange textures, offbeat moments—and try to make something that feels like more than just a picture. Whether it’s a building, a plate of food, or a person staring back at me, I want it to feel lived-in and a little unexpected. I care about composition, color, and mood, but mostly I care that it makes you feel something. Even if it’s just, “huh, weird.
